Global pollock supply expected to dip in 2019
Lower supply forecasts from the United States will drive the fall.
The Alaska pollock supply projections announced during the Groundfish Forum Wednesday set total expected volumes for 2019 at 3.36 million metric tons, a slight decline of 2.7 percent from the 3.45 million metric tons in 2018.
The expected decline is driven by lower forecasts of Alaska pollock volumes from the United States, which are expected to fall 6 percent, to 1.45 million metric tons, in 2019.
Supply of Alaska pollock from other regions such as Russia, Japan, South Korea and China are expected to remain flat in 2019.
