Nasdaq: Salmon prices see bump in week 41

Average prices also increased compared to a month ago.

Norwegian farmed salmon prices were up by NOK ­1.68 (€0.18 /$0.21) per kilo in week 41, which was 3 percent higher than they were the week prior, according to the latest figures from Nasdaq.

The average price for salmon during the week was lower from a month ago at NOK 56.32 (€5.98 /$6.92) per kilo, down NOK 3.62 (€0.38/0.45) per kilo, or 6 percent lower. Average prices were however up 7 percent from 12 weeks ago.

Prices were also up among major weight classes in week 41.

The size category of 4 to 5 kg took up the largest part of the market with a share of 38 percent. Here prices were up NOK 1.69 (€0.18/$0.21) per kilo on average to hit NOK 56.14 (€5.96/$6.90).

The second most popular size category of 3 to 4 kg had a market share of 26 percent, and here prices were up NOK 2.02 (€0.21/$0.25) per kilo over the week to hit NOK 54.63 (€ 5.80/$6.71) per kilo on average.
