Nasdaq: Farmed salmon prices sunk nearly 8% in past week

Significant price falls seen across all weight classes in week 12.

The average price of Norwegian farmed salmon decreased to NOK 66.26 (€6.88/$7.76) per kilo in week 12, a 7.7 percent fall from the previous week, according to the latest figures from Nasdaq.

However, compared with a month ago, prices are still more than 15 percent higher, and up 0.8 percent compared with three months ago, according to Nasdaq.

Fish in the 4-5 kilo weight class, the most popular category with a 27.9 percent share of sales, saw prices at NOK 67.12 (€6.97/$7.86) per kilo on average, down NOK 5.69 (€0.59/$0.67) compared with the week before.

The 5-6 kilo weight class, the second most popular category, saw average prices at NOK 67.89 (€7.05/$7.95) per kilo, down NOK 5.84 (€0.61/$0.68) compared with the previous week.

Prices decreased for all categories during the week, the figures showed.
